Pastor’s Message –

Job 1: 18 – 21

While he was speaking, yet another messenger came and said “Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest bothers house when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the  four corners of the house. It collapsed, and I am the only one who escaped to tell you!” A this Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said “ Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.

I was going to tell you about the wonderful weekend I had with those ten young ladies. The extraordinary time I had watching them grow in Christ, but with the events of today at Virginia Tech I think we need to be in prayer for those young people who were killed or injured and their families. Job suffered through the loss of his sons and daughters through a “natural” disaster. Those parents and families today suffered the same loss through someone’s careless actions to purposely hurt people, even people he didn’t know! The only thing I can say is that we, ALL, need to be in prayer for the families and the entire VT community. For those who would like or need to pray I will open Antioch tomorrow, Tuesday, at 6:30 pm for a prayer service..

   Paronage Stew Sale at Antioch

   Youth Group Meeting @ William’s

The Stew Sale was a great success.  Many Thanks to Mary Ann Cundiff and everyone who helped by bringing ingredients, helping to cook and cleaning up.   We sold 212 quarts and, including donations, we made $1075.00.  The monies go to the parsonage fund.

Things are changing at Antioch!!  Over the past few weeks the church has been painted inside and out.  And then last week the sidewalk was removed and on Saturday there was a work event and the new sidewalk was formed and gravel was put down.  By next Sunday we should have new sidewalks.  Those helping on Saturday also trimmed the shrubbery and removed some of the plantings that were not looking very good.  Many thanks to everyone who showed up to help with all the work.

On Sunday, April 29th, Antioch will have a special “Fifth Sunday Singing” during Sunday School.  Everyone is encouraged and invited to participate in this fun event.  Brenda Napier has volunteered to set up this event, so if you can bring something for snack, please contact Brenda to let her know.

The Youth Group at Williams had a birthday celebration this past Saturday.  We made birthday cakes of all shapes and sizes and sang “Happy Birthday” to everyone.  It was lots of fun.  If you know of any youth, ages 2-20, please invite them to come to the monthly “Youth Group” meetings on the second Saturday of each month at 3:00 PM

Williams will hold its regular monthly Luncheon on Sunday, April 22nd immediately following Sunday School.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Mother’s Day is approaching.  Please help this Mother’s Day to be another huge success as we watch our children grow.  We need children of all ages to participate:  to read scripture, a poem, or a selection of their choice. If there is anyone who has a child or grandchild, or knows of someone that would like to participate in our Mother’s Day program, please call Sarah Stallings at 434-676-6784 or contact her by e-mail at sstallings@earthlink.net

Sunday School is available each Sunday morning.  There is a class for every age so please plan on joining us to learn more about our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Sunday School at Williams begins at 10:45 AM and at Antioch at 10:00 AM.
