Is God Calling you to Minister to Others?

As part of our Labor of Love initiative, we will be beginning a Lay Ministers program which will be pairing up a trained lay minister from within the congregation with individuals or families in the church or community who would like to have someone to talk and pray with them on a regular basis.  We will be training Lay       Ministers on the afternoon of Sunday, January 23rd, so please consider if God is calling you to be a part of our Lay Ministers team.  If you are considering it, please talk with Pastor Andrew, and he will give you more information!

The Business of 2011

Mark your calendars for the following meetings to take place in the next month.  We are excited about all that God is calling us to!  In addition to the meetings noted in the calendar above, we have:

Antioch Administrative Board—7:00 PM Tuesday January 25th @ Antioch

District Training Sessions

Join other church leaders from around the Farmville District at the United Methodist Assembly Center in Blackstone on January 16th from 2:30 PM-5:30 PM.  The sessions will focus on a large array of topics including missions for smaller congregations, how to share your faith story, living out a conspiracy of kindness, hospitality and more.  See the district newsletter “Staying in Touch” on the bulletin board or talk with Pastor Andrew for more information.

Lay Servants Academy

February 25-27th, lay leaders from all around the conference will be gathering at the Conference Center in Blackstone to take     eighteen courses including Lay Speaking and an overview of United Methodism.  If you are interested in growing your faith and increasing your skills for ministry, this is a great opportunity.  For more information, see the “Events” section of conference website (www.vaumc.org) or talk to Pastor Andrew.
